Carrie Prejean: Forsaking the Things of the World for Christ
Carrie Prejean, Miss California who competed in the Miss USA contest, demonstrated to the world the meaning of forsaking the things of the world to follow Christ. She was willing to give up fame and fortune to testify to the world that marriage is only between one man and one woman—as God designed it (Genesis 2:18-24).
Carrie’s example reminds us of the principle behind Christ’s command to the rich young ruler:
“When Jesus heard this, he said to him, ‘One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’” (Luke 18:22)
